KUALA LUMPUR, 4 July 2008 - Sime Darby Property Bhd has seen sales of over RM220 million over a period of nine days during its Parade of Homes campaign far outpacing its initial sales target of RM100 million for the duration of the event.
In a statement yesterday Sime Property said the event which was launched on June 20 saw more than 15 000 home seekers flock ing to its nine townships in Shah Alam Subang Jaya Klang Ampang and Nilai resulting in a sale of over 425 properties.
The company was able to rake in the handsome sales despite concerns about the economy and external factors. However Sime Darby Property executive vice president property development and strategic investments Datuk Tunku Badlishah said it was precisely those reasons the buyers came out. Many of the home buyers interviewed cited concerns over in creasing construction costs and the money saving offers as being one of their main reasons for making their purchase he said Tunku Badlishah said the properties in Putra Heights Bukit Raja and Bukit Jelutong developments attracted the most attention. He said the initial sales target of RM100 million was achieved just mid way into the special promotion. We are very pleased with the response which has exceeded our own expectations he added Noting that rising prices of construction materials would have an impact on the real estate sector.
Tunku Badlishah said the Parade of Homes was timely and represented a very good opportunity for buyers to lock in their investments while saving some money from the special offers before the next round of price increases impacted the market. The campaign offered special privileges that included waiver on legal fees and stamp duty on transfer as well as a RM5 000 rebate for any property purchased during the period It also included a special contest that gave away more than RM600 000 in prizes.
